Traditional vs. Modern

Olde-stye vs. Low-profile

Our "Waterless Airlock"

BASIC FACTS

NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL AFTER KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN
  • Manufactured FDA food grade silicone and BPA free plastic. The device consists of 3 parts.
    • The "umbrella" which releases CO2 gas pressure from your fermenting foods and also helps create and maintain a CO2 blanket in your fermenting kit. Made with FDA food grade BPA free silicone. Sold seperately also.
    • The "base" Is a FDA food grade BPA free plastic adapter that will allow the waterless airlock system to be adapted to most any plastic or glass jar lid by fitting in a standard 3/8" grommet. Sold seperately also. This part elevates the "umbrella vent" off the top of the jar lid reduces the possibility of dust or waterborn contamination from the air and lid surface, unlike some other waterless airlock systems.
    • The "grommet" is a food grade BPA free silicone grommet, with a 3/8" hole to accept both the waterless and regular 3 piece airlock system. This allows the waterless airlock system to be adapted to most any plastic or glass jar lid. Sold seperately also.
  • The system releases at .5 PSI. This is a lot more than the 3 piece airlock and this will result in "fizzier" kombucha and will keep more CO2 in the ferment as well.
  • This system will open when the ferment pressure reachs set point and will close when it is less. In other words it will be open and rely on constant pressure to keep contaminants from entering.
  • NOTE: Can be modified at home by user by shimming under the "umbrella vent" with a paper thin gasket. Do so at your own risk!!! It would allow more carbonation in your ferment.
  • SPECIAL NOTE: Read the pro's and Cons section below!

    Pickle*Pushing No-Float Jar*Packer

Pros and Cons for "Waterless Airlock" System

    • VERY LOW PROFILE STORAGE!
    • Does not require water to function.
    • Will hold more CO2 in your ferment
    • Slightly more possibility of contamination due to the "umbrella vent"s working trait of being open more than it is shut.
    • Will work to prevent possibility of contamination from the liquid in a traditional 3 piece airlock when a vacumm developes when the temperature of your ferments drop.
    • It is not required to remove the umbrella vent when opening lid!
    • Much harder to tell if the system failed. Usually if no leakage or "blowage" is evident on container lid, the unit is functioning correctly

    Our "3 Piece Airlock"

    BASIC FACTS

  • Manufactured food grade BPA free plastic
  • The device consists of 4 parts.
  • The "Base" This part holds the water or desired liquid and allows insertion into rubber grommet. Sold in kit form.
  • The "Float" This part "floats" on the water or liquid and when the pressure is enough for the float to rise, it will "belch" the CO2 and release pressure and re-settle to repeat the cycle later. Sold in kit form.
  • The "Cap" This part keeps airborne dust and particles from entering the liquid in the "base" . Sold in kit form.
  • The "grommet" is a food grade silicone grommet, BPA free, with a 3/8" hole in it to accept both the waterless and regular 3 piece airlock system that will allow the waterless airlock system to be adapted to most any plastic or glass jar lid. Sold seperately also.
  • This part allows you to add our waterless airlock to your existing lids that use a grommet to attach the 3 piece airlock too.
  • The system releases at .02 PSI aproximately
  • SPECIAL NOTE: Read the pro's and Cons section below!

    Pickle*Pushing No-Float Jar*Packer

Pros and Cons for "3 Piece Airlock" System

    • USED AND TRUSTED FOR YEARS
    • Releases at a very low PSI Pressure.
    • Is subject to allowing a siphon of liquid into ferment if the temperature falls and vacuum forms
    • Has higher profile than "waterless" airlocks
    • Must be removed when opening your lid if used on a FIdo jar!
    • Requires water to function.

The "Pickle*Pushing No-Float Jar*Packer" is the backbone of our system. It is unique in that it serves many purposes during the fermentation and storing process's while removing most of the problems normally encountered. Rookies have reported to us that their sucess rate was nearly that of their veteren friends and all delighted in the reduced labor and spoilage. Using our system does save time money and also turns out a much more eye appealing product in the process. It will dramatically increase the refridgerator shelf life of your opened jars as well by adjusting the height adjuster and forcing the remaining contents back under the remaining liquid. Floaties beware!

  • NOTE: WHEN ADJUSTING THE HEIGHT IN THIS STEP YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THE ADJUSTER DOES CONTACT THE LID TO ALLOW LID TO PUT DOWNWARDS FORCE ON CONTENTS

  • There is at present, no such a thing as a manually controlled fermentation system for the home consumer that is
    "Set it................... and forget it".
If you assume this your chance of a failed ferment is very probable!
